Our History
Our company was initially incorporated in Hawaii as Edward R. Bacon Company of Hawaii Limited on June 4th, 1947 for the specific purpose of acquiring all the assets and liabilities of the Edward R. Bacon General Partnership located in San Francisco. Initially we started selling and servicing small industrial units and in 1958 acquired the Ford line of agricultural equipment.
On August 22, 1961, our company was acquired by Alexander & Baldwin which at the time was one of the big five companies in Hawaii. Our name was then changed to Bacon Company, Inc.
In 1977, the Carpenter Group of Australia, who at the time owned the Universal Equipment Company of Hawaii, purchased Bacon Company, Inc. and merged the two companies, with Bacon Company having the dominant role. The new reconstruction was then named Bacon Universal Company, Inc. and has remained so to this day.
In 1994 Bacon Universal Company Limited, Inc. was acquired by Yoshire International Ltd. Today our company continues its proud 60 years plus Hawaiian history of being head quartered in Honolulu on the island of Oahu with branch locations servicing Wailuku, Maui: Hilo and Kona on the Big island and Lihue on Kauai.
