Bacon Universal and Bacon Rentals are delighted to have partnered with Kubota to support the construction of the Napili Community Bike Park on Maui.
The Napili Community Bike Park will be the first ever free community bike part on private land in Hawaii. The project, led by the Maui Mountain Bike Coalition, is the result of many years of promoting and advocating for mountain biking in Maui and will provide a much-needed recreation space for the community of Lahaina, who lost many resources including the skatepark, community pool, basketball courts, baseball fields and multiple surf spots in the fires.
The project started to become a reality when Maui Mountain Bike Coalition secured a lease in April 2024 for 5 acres of land in Napili, just 10 minutes north of Lahaina town. They partnered with mountain bike legend, Cam Zink, a Maui resident since 2022, who has graciously offered his expertise to help build the bike park, and his company, Sensus RAD Trails, is building the bike specific trails.
To construct the bike trails, professional freeride mountain biker, Carson Storch, a good friend of Cam, reached out to Kubota for help in sourcing the equipment needed for the build. As the exclusive dealer for Kubota equipment in Hawaii, Bacon Universal and it’s dedicated rental division, Bacon Rentals, stepped in to support the project delivering the the rental machines to site on Tuesday, November 12.
The Sensus RAD Trails crew have access to 4 Kubota units for the 3-week project, including the KX080 and KX040 excavators, a SVL75 tracked skid steer, and the recently launched SCL1000 stand-on compact loader.
While the project is not solely relying on donations, any contributions they receive will enable them to create additional features and make the park as special and unique as possible for the community.
Donations can be made at their GoFundMe page: Napili Community Bike Park Go Fund Me.
Matt Elvin, President & CEO at Bacon Universal visited the project site when the equipment was delivered. “We are very pleased to partner with Kubota to support this outstanding and much-needed community project. The benefits of such a facility are significant and long-lasting, and we look forward to seeing it come to fruition.”
